Having had an editor who had gone to college and taken her degree 30 years earlier, then shelved said degree to become a domestic engineer, I have to agree. I didn’t mind so much her grammar notes or occasional spelling remarks, but she was wholly underprepared for editing highly technical documents. She constantly questioned the definition of terms, their use, and contradicted her own edits on subsequent reviews – especially on sections she took it upon herself to completely rewrite.
Sigh.
